2013 Volkswagen Golf Mk7

The Volkswagen Golf is one of the most popular small cars around the world; I always see at least one of these cars when I go for a drive.  The Golf has been around since 1974 and has developed a cult-like following with a huge tuner market.  Each new model has been getting a little bigger and a bit more luxurious and the all-new 7th generation 2013 Volkswagen Golf MK7 is no exception.  The car will be officially unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

Like previous generation Golfs, the MK7’s exterior styling is an evolution of the design; you’ll know this is a Golf from very far.  The main styling difference I noticed is the sharper lines on the front and rear lights which look like LED units and sharper lines on the hood.  While the 2013 VW Golf is larger and offers more space than its predecessor, it is 220 pounds (100 kg) lighter.  The interior is similar to the previous generation except the center console is angled towards the driver.  The interior looks pretty nice; it looks more like an Audi interior than a VW interior.

The biggest difference between the Golf MK7 and the previous generation car is under the skin, the MK7 sits on the MQB platform shared with the new Audi A3.  VW hasn’t provided us the engines that’ll be offered on the all-new Golf but we’ll update this post with the latest information when we get our hands on it.
