There are a few electric skateboards on the market at the moment and it’s looking like they are starting to become more popular. Or at least I’ve been noticing more brands recently and just yesterday I saw someone using one in person which is a first for me. We first wrote about the Marble Board followed by the Boosted Board.
The Marbel Board seems to be the lightest on the market weighing in at 9.9 pounds, range of ten miles, top speed of 20mph, and a crazy retail price of $1,299. The first-generation Boosted Board we wrote about weighed 15 pounds, range of six miles, top speed of 20mph, and ridiculous price of $1,995. They came to their senses and now range between $999 to $1,499. Still way too much if you ask me!
Yuneec E-Go Electric Skateboard
The newest guys on the block go by the name of Yuneec E-Go Electric Skateboard. This bad boy seems to be the best bang for the buck so far as its performance is very similar to the competition while keeping the price lower. But will the quality be on the same level?
The Yuneec E-Go weighs in at 13.9 pounds, can travel up to 18 miles, a slower top speed of 12mph when compared to the competition. But do you really want to wipe out on a skateboard at 20mph? I didn’t think so.
You can control the E-Go using two different methods. You can use a wireless remote control to start, stop, and adjust speed or you can also use their iOS or Android App which will let you mess around with the basic telemetry and motive navigation. Steering the board can be done using the same method as your conventional skateboard, leaning your body in a specific direction. To ride it safely, you’ll still need to know your way around a traditional skateboard before you hopping on something even faster.
The Yuneec E-Go can be recharged in an average time of four hours and is capable of handling a rider weighing no more than 220 lbs. The Yuneec E-Go is going for $699.
