You’re not sick of seeing drone footage, right? Drones are really and truly a part of the mainstream now, and though the sheer volume of footage coming out of the ‘drone scene’ is immense, I’m pleased to see that a lot of the material is still super interesting. Take for example this first person footage of a drone racing through an abandoned hospital in Spain at insane speeds.
Great scenery, what little you see given that the drone is moving at insane speeds, and the music doesn’t hurt either. It’s a fun little watch to get you pumped up for science, technology, and all the great things these disciplines bring us, such as drones that we can control using a head mounted display.
We’ve also got a few minutes of behind the scenes footage. Remember how I mentioned HMD controls? You can see the pilot wearing a headset to view the flight from first person. How cool is that?
I noticed a lot of distortion in the real time footage, but… that’s something that will no doubt improve over the years as transmission speeds increase, and video codecs improve for this kind of application. Yes, we’re living in an exciting time, especially if you’re a drone enthusiast.
