Here’s a Volkswagen Golf I could get behind the wheel of, the VW Golf TCR. It’s a concept currently but would most likely be produced, but unfortunately not for street use.
The Golf TCR is made in accordance with specifications for the Touringcar Racer International Series (TCR), which a racing series that takes place in Europe and Asia. The car will make an appearance at the next two rounds of the series, it will be sold to customers for the 2016 season of TCR.
The Volkswagen Golf TCR is one mean looking car, its super wide fender flares give it a lot of road presence. The wide fender flares make the car about 16″ (400 mm) wider than a stock Golf, the flares house wide racing tires that are 18″ in diameter. The car comes with an aggressive front bumper and a pretty big rear spoiler. The interior has been completely gutted and comes with a carbon fiber racing bucket seat and a full roll cage.
The Golf TCR’s engine is based on the Golf R’s engine, which is a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4-cylinder, producing 330 horsepower and 292 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox.
