If you ask any of my friends what I’m like, they’ll say – among a great many other things, some of which would terrify you – that I love to organize things. I wouldn’t say it’s a hobby exactly, I’m merely attempting to optimize my life.
Travel preparation is no exception. I only travel with a small backpack to avoid having to check luggage, and I’m always seeking new ways to make that packing experience better. That’s why I was so excited to receive an early (as in not out yet) Ultimate Travel Undergarment Organizer from Origami Unicorn. Really, I was excited! When I tried it, even more so. Let’s take a look…
Easily Organize Your Undergarments
The way I’ve packed my clothes for travel goes a little like this: socks in the bottom of my backpack, underwear above them, and then my clothes, all items neatly rolled or folded where appropriate.
This system has worked pretty well for me over the years, but what if I could organize these things with even greater granularity? That’s where the TUO comes into play. As you can see in the photos, the TUO is essentially a compressible bag with zippered compartments to hold undergarments. It’s brilliant in its simplicity, but more importantly, it works.
Filling it with socks and underwear works perfectly, and there’s plenty of room left over for things like deodorant sticks and other miscellaneous items as well. Since garments tend to “expand” from their folded or rolled state in my backpack, the TUO actually cuts down on space as well. Consider me impressed.
As I’m writing this, the Ultimate Travel Undergarment Organizer hasn’t quite hit retail. The TUO’s creator Yung Tseng Chen is currently running a succesful Kickstarter for the project, with an expected ship date of December. It’s going to retail for about $60, but if you’re quick, you can pledge on Kickstarter to get one for only $49.
This is truly one of the most useful travel items I’ve ever received, and I didn’t even know I needed it.
