The Nexus 6P: The Good, The Great, and The Pretty Awesome

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Huawei. All opinions are 100% mine.

Today’s smartphones: Smarter, more beautiful and ever more advanced with every model. The smartphone scene of today is defined by super-sleek models and hardware that only ever gets more impressively powerful. And just when we thought that the smartphone market had become a game of the same old brands with only slightly switched-up models and features, along comes a brand (coupled with the tech giant Android) to shake things up a bit.

In step, the Huawei Nexus 6P Huawei is about to take the U.S. by storm and send shock waves through a previously calm smartphone scene. And just how are they going to manage this? Well, in a market-disrupting move they’ll be providing their flagship handset, the Nexus 6P, free from the complex, expensive multi-year contracts that its peer handsets are locked into. Launched in September 2015 in partnership with the tech gurus that is Google, the Nexus 6P promises much to the market, so here we take the handset for a spin.

The Nexus 6P: Why you’re going to love it! Let’s make things simple. The Nexus 6P has much about it to be loved, but here we whittle it down to three straight forward plusses that we experienced first-hand.

1. The Nexus 6P is seriously beautiful, and built to stunning specifications Huawei isn’t messing about here with its premium products . The Nexus 6P competes with the very best for unrelenting build quality. It features aeronautical-grade anodized aluminum that is crafted into sleek contours. There are diamond chamfers that make up its edges, and an impressive 12.3 MP, sapphire-crystal lens camera that takes seriously sharp shots. We also loved the One Fingertip security unlock feature, which works with the way the device is naturally held. Perfect for all those (including me!) who would get frustrated at the hit-and-miss handsets that feature fingertip-slide unlock on the front screen.

2. The Nexus 6P features the freshest of Android. Since we first saw Google bring its Android OS to the smartphone market the company has achieved some pretty remarkable things. After all, who would have ever envisaged that a single brand could launch in 2007 and come to hold a staggering 82.8% market share as of 2015 (IDC 2015)?. Take this impressive track record and couple it with Huawei, the leading Chinese brand that’s already conquered the Asian markets, and you have an idea of just what they may bring to today’s table of smartphones. When we tested out the Nexus 6P we really noticed the ways in which the handset was built with Android in mind, and the interfaces were by far the most intuitive that we’ve experienced when taking into account a completely new model. And, of course, all of the Google apps that you already love are built in (such as Gmail™, Chrome™, and Google Maps™).

3. The Nexus 6P is lightning fast. When it comes to power you’re going to be hard-pressed to beat what’s under the Nexus 6P’s beautiful casing. Here you can glide from app to app and take all the videos and snaps that you wish as you’re backed up by the handset’s Snapdragon 810 processor. This all makes for a super-fast user experience as well as more memory than they could shake ten memory sticks at.

All in all: Pretty awesome The Nexus 6P boasts beauty and brains, and when empowered by Android and a fresh approach to the mobile market, we think that this smartphone is going to deliver upon Huawei’s promise of disrupting the US market. android-nexus6p-06 android-nexus6p-05 android-nexus6p-03 android-nexus6p-02 android-nexus6p-01 Ready to check out the Nexus 6P for yourself?
