The Cold Light of Day Trailer – Can you Guess Who Bruce Willis Works For?

I have this vague recollection from years ago of Bruce Willis saying that he wanted to branch out from action movies. I remember him saying, probably around the time of Armageddon, that this was it… that he was trying something new. Perhaps what he meant was that he wouldn’t do another asteroid related action film, and not action films in general! Yes, that really must be it, because he certainly hasn’t changed. In this new action thriller, The Cold Light of Day, starring Henry Cavil and our ever-employed-by-the-CIA action star Bruce Willis, Henry Cavil “Will Shaw” fights in a race against time to save his family from some completely forgettable terrorist, or group of bad guys, or maybe even the CIA cause hey, why not?

The trailer starts out fantastically, with Henry, Bruce, and the rest of their family chillin’ on a yacht in Spain. Henry goes for a swim, comes back, and… *dun dun dun*, they’re gone! In a completely un-surprising plot twist, we find out that the fellows father (old Brucey boy) works for the CIA, and was probably involved in some shenanigans with a metal briefcase.

What initially attracted me was the title, because it sounds interesting, and what kept me was the prospect of some interesting acting or dialogue between Sigourney Weaver and co. She’s one of my favorite actresses, and I genuinely hope that she’s able to spark some life into a story that’s been done over, and over, and over again. I realize that anything related to the CIA, or special forces, or shadow organizations are trending right now – and that’s cool, I like that stuff too – but at least some up with something vaguely original.

The Cold Light of Day hits theaters everywhere on April 6th, 2012. If they had made the release date April 1st, I would have laughed this off as a Bruce Willis sanctioned joke about his own career. Sadly, this is for real.
