Review: Super Sexy Phiaton Moderna MS 200 Earphones

Just the other day, I did a review on the Phiaton PS 20 NC earphones which not only deliver great sound for such an affordable pair of earphones but also does an amazing job at noise cancelling. Today, we’ll be looking at the Phiaton Moderna MS 200 earphones which have sexy written all over it. From the looks of it, it has its sights set on the Dr. Dre iBeats, which are also a pair of earphones I happen to own and use a few times per week when I listen to my dirty south bass heavy tracks.

The first thing that you will notice about the Phiaton Moderna MS 200 earphones is the flashy red accents and the carbon graphite fiber which looks quite nice and has more sex appeal than the iBeats by Dr. Dre in my opinion. But these earphones are more than show and delivers audio performance that can be comparable to brands which are priced up to 40 percent higher.

These earphones are ideal for someone who is looking for some versatility from their earphones which can be used on a day-to-day basis as well as get some outdoor use out of them while going out for jogs, hikes, and biking. I say it’s good for outdoor because you won’t be completely cut off from the environment as some outside noise can be heard with these earphones due to its “half in ear” design. This means that the Phiaton Moderna MS 200 are a hybrid between earbuds and in-ear headphones. I noticed that I also didn’t need an extremely tight fit in order to get the bass out of the earphones. According to Phiaton, the MS 200’s “Multi-Tune Acoustic Design” uses a dual chamber and features five tuning points which have been engineered to optimize the airflow. I don’t know what that means but these things sound pretty damn good.

The red and black color scheme may not exactly be original but the tangle free, oval shaped cable is a first for me. Another nice feature is the built-in microphone which a thoughtful touch and I tested out two or three times. It works nice enough and a nice option to have handy when you want to go hands-free with your mobile phone. I am able to wear earphones for a few hours at a time without feeling any discomfort. The comfort is actually one of the reasons I like these MS 200’s. My ears start to get sore with the iBeats by Dr. Dre after about two hours and this was not the case with these Phiaton Moderna MS 200’s. The Moderna MS 200 earphones also comes with a total of six sets of ear tips along with a sleek looking leather carry case in black and red which I wish was a bit smaller.

Overall, I have nothing bad to say about the Phiaton Moderna MS 200 earphones which offer solid sound quality and looks at a very reasonable price. The suggested price is $150 but you can pick these up on Amazon for $119.

  1. Who exactly are you and what is your background with headphones? Are you an engineer, designer, consultant? Have you worked for anyone in the business or do you have any credibility at all? I appreciate the review, but would like some credentials proving you have some experience with hi fi audio.

    • Last time we checked, “engineers, designers, consultants” don’t go around reviewing headphones, they’re too busy making things… maybe you can learn something from those people and start making better use of your time.

    • I think the question in this case is, does it really matter? These are earphones made for the average consumer, and here we have an average consumer reviewing them. If you ask me, that’s exactly the type of person who should be commenting on these. You know… the type of person who might actually buy them.
