Rainbow Six Siege ‘Operators’ Gameplay Trailer Reveals Female Operators

If there’s one thing I’ve been craving these past few years, it’s a true tactical shooter. A shooter that’s slower paced, squad based, and takes a little thought. I’m so very, very tired of run and gun style games.

The Rainbow Six franchise has a long history of tactical gameplay, and that’s why Siege – Ubisoft’s latest take on the franchise – has me so excited. I can’t even remember the last time I was really pumped to play a shooter, but here we go. Ubisoft has released a brand new “operator” trailer showing off, among other things, their seemingly new female operator.

I’m thrilled to see more playable female characters in video games, but I’ve got a few concerns here. Let’s start off with this woman’s non-bullet proof hat. Notice how she’s the only one wearing a hat? The other characters all have heavy metal helmets. Unless this is one fancy hat, I’m pretty sure it’s not going to stop any debris, much less high velocity bullets.

Maybe she’s so bad-ass that she doesn’t even need a helmet. Fair enough.

However, I think she might be a little *too* bad-ass since she appears to have a little mustache. Maybe it’s just the lighting, but I’m pretty sure she’s got a bit of that going on, and I for one find that a little strange. Here’s a higher resolution version of the image…

Anyway, enough of my complaining. Here’s the rest of the screenshots from this collection. If you look at all the shots showing nail guns and sledgehammers, you might mistake Rainbow Six: Siege for a home renovation simulator.

There’s currently no public release date for Rainbow Six: Siege, but given that Ubisoft has started a closed beta of the game, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing Siege a little later this year.

I’ll continue to post new screenshots, trailers, and information, as they’re made available.
