Practical Travel Tips for Men

There are tons of articles out there about travel fashion, but to tell you the truth, that all depends on your personal style and where you’re headed. For these tips, we’d like to focus on practical tips that all guys can use – whether you’re headed to the coast for a beer-soaked getaway or are working to land the Next Big Deal.

Roll – Don’t Fold
Folding your clothes when packing them sounds like a great idea, but in reality, we always end up with everything all rumpled and wrinkled. With the exception of suits and dress shirts that get packed in a hanger bag, roll all of your clothes tightly before putting them in your suitcase. We don’t know why it works, but it helps keep them wrinkle-free…and it takes up less space in the process.

Wear Slip-On Shoes
Whether you’re dressing casual for your flight or need to arrive at your destination looking professional and spiffy, opt for slip-on footwear. Those shoes are likely going to have to come off as you move through security, and being able to slip them off and back on again is going to make an otherwise hectic shuffle much easier.

Make Airport Security a Breeze
You know you’re going to have to go through a metal detector at the airport. I know I’m going to have to go through the metal detector. That guy over there – he knows it, too. We all know we’re going to have to go through the metal detector when we reach airport security. And somehow, we always end up behind that guy who has to empty all of his pockets, take off the belt with the giant metal buckle, remove his watch and fifteen pieces of jewelry…

Our final tip is this: don’t be that guy. If it simply must go with you on the plane and you don’t want to check it, put it in your carry-on until you get through security. Put your belt in there, as well as your cell phone and your wallet to make the process faster. Place your watch and any other bling in a Ziplock baggie and zip in into your carry-on; you can slip it all back on once you’re (quickly) through the metal detector.

That’s it! These tried-and-trusted tips will have you arriving faster with less stress. Bon voyage!
