Philips Norelco Click & Style Shaver Review

I don’t know about other men, but for me, shaving my facial hair is one of the things I hate with a passion.  The shaving process is not a very long one but it’s still a major pain; I usually shave every other day, and having to constantly wash the razor to empty out the hair and cleaning the watery mess afterwards makes for an unpleasant 10 minute experience.I’ve been shaving for a very long time; I think I started when I was around 16.  I have quite thick facial hair and using those razor blades got annoying and expensive, not to mention the irritation the blades left on my skin.  So, I’ve been using electric shavers for the last 10 or so years, and have had somewhat of a successful time at it.  The electric shavers I’ve used did make the shaving process quicker but it also left my skin irritated, most of the times.  These electric razors aren’t some high-end ones, just the average $100+ ones.  Last week, I got the opportunity to try the Phillips Norelco Click & Style shaver, and I was extremely pleased with it.

I honestly wasn’t expecting too much from this shaver, given its price of only $69.99.  What’s more impressive is that it’s not only a shaver but it also comes with a beard trimmer and a body hair trimmer attachments; 3 for the price of 1 and it can be used wet or dry.  In this post I’ll talk about the shaver, we’ll do a separate review on the body trimmer next week.

The Phillips Norelco Click & Style shaver looks like most other electric razors available on the market; it comes with three attachments that easily snap on and off.  The shaver is fully charged in 1 hour and 40 minutes and it gives you 1 hour of use.  There is an option for a quick charge of 10 minutes, giving you enough time to shave once.

Once on, the shaver is very quiet; it almost feels like it’s not even on and when I placed it onto my face and started going over hair, I didn’t feel a thing.  The shaver just glided over my face and it didn’t seem to be doing anything, but looking in the mirror, it was doing what it was supposed to do.  There was no pulling of hair or crunching sound of hair, which I experienced with other electric shavers I’ve used.  The sensation I got from using this shaver was that of a vacuum cleaner, if felt like the Click & Style shaver was just sucking the hair off of my face and 95% of the hair went into the shaver head, leaving not much of a mess in the sink.  Again, all the other electric razors I’ve used leave a lot of hair in the sink, which are too small to pick up and end up going into the drain.

Switching between the three heads is a snap, just pull out the head and click in the new one; pretty simple.  The shaver head can be opened up to reveal a small compartment for the shaved hair, you can dump the hair into the trash bin and whatever is left over can be washed out.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the Phillips Norelco Click & Style shaver, I really wasn’t expecting it to perform this well, and that’s not even taking into account the reasonable price of $69.99.  The shaver gave me a very smooth shave which I’ve never had with an electric razor; it left my face as smooth as a razorblade shave.  I’d definitely recommend the Click & Style shaver to anyone looking for an affordable, no-nonsense electric shaver.  You can pick up these shavers online at amazon.com or at brick & mortar stores like Walmart, Target, and many other big box retail stores.
