Natural Ways of Cleaning Bathrooms

Apart from the kitchen, bathroom takes the most amount of time and efforts to clean, as it features so many different kinds of surfaces and also because of its nature. It is a place that requires regular cleaning because its frequency of use. With the help of a checklist and some natural cleaners, you can clean bathrooms without wasting much of your valuable time, energy and money.

There are many bathroom cleaning companies that can help you in the process. But there are some natural ways of cleaning bathrooms that prove to be really effective.

Let’s focus on one element at a time in the whole process of bathroom cleaning:

Mirrors

Like windows, mirrors can also be cleaned using a solution featuring half portions of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Use old rags or newspapers to clean, but avoid paper towels as they leave behind lots of residue with this method. If you have microfiber clothes, (one wet and one dry) they are the best option as you don’t have to use any chemical.

Counters, Tiles, Shower & Tub

Using microfiber clothes is the best option for all of these, they are even found to be effective on soap scum in the shower. If you don’t have them, there are other natural options that work very effectively:

  • A half vinegar – half water solution will clean tiles, counters, cabinet fronts and soap scum in the shower.
  • Use baking soda and water paste to clean stuck on gunk in the shower and tub. You can use vinegar in place of water for extra tough stains.
  • For grout cleaning, sprinkle baking soda on the floor and spray undiluted hydrogen peroxide. Then scrub with a gentle toothbrush.

Toilets

Sprinkle some baking soda around the inside of the toilet to coat and then dump a cup of undiluted white vinegar into the water. Use a reusable toilet brush to scrub. The chemical reaction of the baking soda and vinegar eliminates stains and any lingering smell. This process even works externally by using the solution on the bottom of the toilet and the floor. In the end, spray and wipe down with undiluted hydrogen peroxide.

Air Freshening

Products selling in the market, for example Febreeze and lysol spray feature a lot of chemicals that can be extremely harmful, especially to children. It is a very good idea if you freshen the air in your bathroom using some natural methods, without bringing in use these toxins. Try out these two simple recipes in order to make your own freshening sprays. They are incredibly inexpensive, they smell nice, they vanish odors and take very little time to make.

Recipe 1:

You will need 12 to 15 drops of pure essential oil (lavender, lemon, orange and grapefruit are some of the good choices, but you can go with any scent that you enjoy), half a cup white vinegar and one and a half cups water. You also have the option of making a stronger version of this spray, by bringing in use a higher ratio of vinegar to water and using more than 20 drops of essential oil in a small diffuser bottle.

This works better for just a quick spray into the air to freshen up a bathroom before your guests arrive, as compared to the less concentrated spray that you spray directly into items.

Recipe 2:

You will need 4 tablespoons natural or eco-friendly fabric softener (Ecover’s Sunny Day fabric softener is a good choice, but there are a number of brands available in your grocery store) in a regular size spray bottle. Fill rest of the bottle with water.

Make use of the above listed tips and feel the difference in your bathroom. You will find it much cleaner and fresh than ever before.
