Earlier this year we wrote about the Mini Clubman 5-Door Concept, presented at the Geneva Motor Show. At the time, Mini was calling the car a concept, but I thought it was almost production ready and we should see it hit showrooms soon; and I was right, Mini is producing the car and it will be available soon.
The new 2015 Mini Clubman 5 Door replaces the Clubman with the 2 regular doors at the front and a solitary suicide half-door on the side. The new 5-door car is more practical, although it isn’t as “mini” as it used to be; but I still think they’ll sell a lot of these small-ish cars.
I’ve personally owned a Mini Cooper S and I absolutely loved the zippy little car. I did buy the car used and didn’t have any problems with the car; thankfully the previous owner was kind enough to follow the Mini Cooper service intervals. Without proper maintenance, these cars can get expensive especially when they’re a bit old.
The 2015 Mini Cooper Clubman has a starting price of $21,950 in the United States for the base model. The base Clubman is powered by a turbocharged 1.5 liter 3-cylinder engine that produces 134 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. The next trim up is powered by a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine producing 189 HP and 207 lb-ft of torque, this model has a starting price of $24,600. These are the only two models available for now; we might see a Clubman S and Clubman JCW at a later date.
The base Clubman does the 0-60 mph run in 7.6 seconds when equipped with a 6-speed manual and 7.7 seconds with the automatic transmission, and tops out at 129 mph. The 2.0 liter equipped Clubman reaches 60 mph in 6.6 seconds with the manual and 6.5 seconds with the automatic transmission, and has a top speed of 145 mph.
Stay tuned, we will try to bring you guys an in-depth review of the 2015 Mini Clubman soon.
