In an effort to confuse the consumer even more, Mercedes-Benz has just released yet another new vehicle with a new name. The vehicle in question is the Mercedes-Benz GLC cross-over, it’s a replacement for the somewhat boxy looking GLK; at least we can erase that name out of our memories.
The GLC is based on the C-Class sedan’s platform, hence the “C” in the GLC and is aimed at the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Acura RDX, and Lexus NX cross-overs.
Unlike the GLK< the GLS doesn't have a polarizing exterior design, it's design is more in like with the competition, minus the Lexus. It isn’t' too bad looking, it kind of looks like a C-Class wagon on steroids. The interior looks very pleasant and is very similar to the C-Class interior, it looks like a nice place to spend time in. The biggest issue for me is the large touchscreen, which looks like an afterthought.
Initially, in the United States and Canada, the vehicle will be offered as the Mercedes-Benz GLC300, with a turbocharged 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine producing 241 horsepower and 241 pound-feet of torque. The GLC300 will be offered with rear wheel drive or 4Matic AWD. Mercedes will offer other models after the initial launch in November.
