Nowadays you can buy a watch that, in addition to time, can tell you just about anything you need to know; things like how fast you’re walking, what time it is in another part of the world, how many calories you’ve burned, and so much more. These watches can get very complicated with very complicated dials, but I still have a special place for minimalist dials. A good example is the MeisterSinger Salthora watch, a watch that comes with only one hand.
MeisterSinger is famous for their elegant looking watches that feature only one hand, these watches look more like mechanical temperature gauges from the 1950’s than time-telling devices. But they do look damn elegant. The added feature on the Salthora is the addition of a small window placed at the 12 o’clock position that features a rotating disc that displays the jumping hour complication.
The problem with most other one-handed watches is that it’s pretty hard to get a good reading of exactly what time it is, you’re mostly approximating the minutes. That problem is resolved with the addition of the jumping hour, while the minute hands still functions like a hand on a “regular watch”. The end result is a handsome looking watch that is definitely a head turner.
The MeisterSinger Salthora watches come in 40mm wide stainless steel cases with four different dial colors: White, Ivory, Black, and Blue, with light brown, brown, black and blue leather straps. The watch faces and display casebacks are covered with sapphire crystals. The watches are powered by ETA 2824-2 self-winding automatic movements with 38 hours of power reserve and water resistant to 50 meters.
The MeisterSinger Salthora watches are very classy looking watches, I’m very attracted to the ivory dialed one, but the price is a bit on the expensive side, with price tag of $3,425 each. A bit steep for a watch with not that many features, but sometimes less is more… Via: Meistersinger
