Max Payne 3 Weapons: Shotguns Trailer

The May 15th release date of Max Payne 3 is just around the corner, and Rockstar Games is continuing their slow trickle of awesome media with this brand new “The Weapons of Max Payne 3: Shotguns” trailer. It’s got plenty of Max Payne’s hallmark slow motion gunplay, and most importantly, it’s got a ton of awesome shotguns.

If you’ve never had the opportunity to fire a shotgun, I highly recommend trying it. Research local gun ranges in your area, because there’s something extremely satisfying about it. It’s not about hurting people (we’ll leave that for video games), but instead experiencing the awesome power contained within each and every shotgun shell. I assure you that it’s an experience you won’t soon forget. It seems that neither has Max Payne 3, as he’s trained himself on a wide range of shotguns, as you’ll see in a moment.

Baddies fell left and right in this trailer, and the weapon sounds and animations look great. From the M4 Super 90 to the dual sawn off shotguns, everything look fantastically satisfying. None of the weapons sounded ridiculously over the top, and instead featured sounds that were more “clacky” and subdued. In short, they seemed a lot more realistic to me than the incredible grenade like explosion sounds that often emanate from weapons in games and movies.

Overall, Max Payne 3 looks fantastic, and I’m glad that my early doubts were swept away in the tide of awesome footage. When I saw screenshots of the game so very long ago, I felt that it looked a lot like Uncharted. Though Uncharted is an excellent game of its own, I wouldn’t want Max Payne 3 to be a clone of it, and I’m glad I was wrong.

Max Payne 3 arrives May 15th, 2012 for PC, Xbox360, and PS3.
