Jaguar F-Pace: The First Ever Jag SUV

There has been much talk of the first ever Jaguar SUV, called the F-Pace. We initially wrote about this vehicle when it was a concept, back then it was called the Jaguar C-X17, I suspected back then that it was ready for production. Today the production Jaguar F-Pace was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, in production form.

The Jaguar F-Pace looks almost identical to the concept vehicle, the only difference is the removal of the illuminated air intake area (which I suspected won’t make it to production) and the vents on the front fenders are a little different. It is a handsome looking SUV and should sell well, it keeps the good looks of the F-Type without looking awkward in SUV form.

The 2016 Jaguar F-Pace will go on sale in spring 2016 and will be offered in four trims: Premium, Prestige, R-Sport, and S. The vehicles will be offered with two gasoline engines and a diesel engine. The gasoline engines are the same engines offered in the rest of Jaguar’s cars, 3.0 liter supercharged V6 engines, producing 340 and 380 horsepower. The 2.0 liter diesel engine will be offered at a later date, which will produce 180 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. I’m sure Jaguar will offer a hardcore V8 version at some later date.

The F-Pace will use the same 8-speed ZF transmission used in the rest of the lineup. As for performance, the 380 HP version will be able to sprint to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph, not bad for an SUV.

In the USA, the diesel F-Pace will have a starting price of $40,997, while the 340 HP one will start at 42,390 and the 380 HP version will start at $56,700.
