The Impossible Instant Lab – Digital To Analog Instant Photos

It wasn’t that long ago when the photos we took actually ended up in our hands as a physical print and into photo albums so friends and family could enjoy them. Those days are now gone and the thousands of photos we take with our smart devices end up in the digital world and probably never to be seen again. This has unfortunately led to the unnecessary snapshots of our lunch, pets, duck faces, and other terrible selfies. But perhaps the Impossible Instant Lab can help bring back the quality and meaningfulness of pictures. The Impossible Instant Lab is kind of like the old Polaroid cameras where you snap a shot and it prints right there.

The device is compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch. You basically pull up the image you wish to print, place your iPhone/iPod on the Instant Lab cradle, and push the ‘Eject’ button. Within seconds, you’ll be holding a physical analog print of the image and hopefully it’s not of your food. You wouldn’t print a picture of the salad you’re having so why even bother taking the picture in the first place?

With the Impossible Instant Lab, you also don’t have to worry about ink. The device uses a special four element coated glass lens to take a photo from your iPhone’s display and develops it inside the layers of the integral film. The photochemical process results in a unique image that is very different from the output of a printer. By printing photos, the quality and meaning of photographs should hopefully increase.

The Impossible Instant Lab will set you back $299 on Amazon and is compatible with iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5/5S, iPod Touch 4th/5th Generation.
