How About We Fly a Drone Through Some Exploding Fireworks?

The 4th of July has come and gone. If you’re one of our many American readers, you undoubtedly celebrated Independence Day by drinking unhealthy amounts of weak American beer, and eating bag after bag of pork rinds. That’s just what you do… much like our Canadian propensity to live in igloos.

Oh, and we can’t forget the fireworks and firecrackers. When I was a kid growing up here in Canada, I absolutely loved them. We couldn’t get the really impressive stuff like our friends across the border, but we made do, and with the close supervision of parents, managed to stay alive year after year. Yes, fireworks are a truly wonderful sight to behold. If only I had a drone at the time…

Feel free to correct me on this one, but with the relatively low cost of drones these days, I’m surprised no one has filmed this before. It was an impressive 4 minutes, diminished only by the terrible music. Oh, don’t give me that… I can’t be the only one that finds Andrea Bocelli painful to listen to, right? He’s played out, just let it go!

In any case, I think there’s one thing we can all agree on: drones are amazing.

They allow us to creepily spy on our citizens with zero regard for privacy, and sometimes they even let us take neat little videos of dazzling fireworks displays.

Note: In case you’re wondering, this footage was taken with a DJI Phantom 2 using a GoPro Hero 3 Silver.

So with that in mind, what’s your favorite “drone footage?” Have you seen some awesome clips that we absolutely must see? If so, leave me a comment below with the link and I’ll do up a nice little compilation article at the end.
