We’ve written about smart phones, smart watches, smart bikes, and everything in between. The next big “smart (something)” is a smart fan. That’s right, we never saw the need for it either.
The Haiku Smart Fan by a company called Big Ass Fans, a very catchy name, is just that, a smart fan. The Haiku ceiling fan comes with an onboard computer and SenseMe technology, which knows when you enter or leave the room, turning the fan on and off automatically. Pushing a button to turn on a ceiling fan is so 20th century.
The onboard computer also monitors the conditions of the room, such as temperature and humidity. The fan automatically turns on or adjusts its speed to bring the room’s temperature and humidity to the ideal level. The fan also comes with built-in lights that automatically adjust with changing light conditions.
Lastly, what smart “anything” would be complete without its very own app. The Haiku smart fan app lets the user schedule fan, light, and sound features and the app can be used to set an alarm.
The Big Ass Fans’ Haiku smart fan is a pretty cool device, but it’ll cost you a large chunk of change, with prices starting at $895. I said starting because you can customize the fan and choose between bamboo and composite construction and pick between 4 colors. [Buy It]
