Celebrities Say, And Do, Stupid Things — Let’s Learn From Their Mistakes

You know what’s interesting about celebrities? Absolutely nothing.

No, perhaps that’s unfair… I have a few of my favorites, men and women like Elon Musk and Jennifer Lawrence that inspire me to some degree. They’re more than just celebrities, they’re flesh and blood. They do things great and… not so great. And you know what? That’s true of everyone.

I’ve seen a lot of celebrities saying and doing stupid things in my time…

“My biggest mentor is myself because I’ve had to study, so that’s been my biggest influence” was included in the Ladbrokes ‘Did they really say that?’ quiz where visitors were asked to select who said the quote from three options.”

Nice work, Kanye. Did you come up with that one yourself? His publicist probably cringed when he read that, and if Kanye stopped to reflect on that a little bit he probably realized how arrogant it sounded. Or… maybe not.

He’s human like everyone else. Speaking of, so is this guy…

obama-hitting-on-woman

Do you remember hearing on the news about Obama flirting? If you answered no, then my respect for you has just grown. Basically, President Obama was “caught” hitting on this fine looking lady in public. Hint: it wasn’t his wife Michelle Obama.

And if you want a really striking example of celebrities being just like the rest of us, you need look no further than the recent iPhone hacking scandal involving Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and about a million other actors and models. If you hadn’t heard (once again, good for you,) their phones were hacked because of an iCloud vulnerability and many very, very private photos were taken and released on the Internet. Yes… those kinds of photos.

Talk about having your most private, human moments plastered all over town. The world has gotten very small in recent years, and the Internet never forgets. That’s a story for another day, though.

But why am I telling you all this? The reasons are numerous, but having been exposed to celebrity news kicking and screaming, I’ve come away with what I feel are a few important life lessons.

  • Everyone says and does stupid things at some point. No one is perfect. But… if you do something stupid, own up to it. Get it out of the way and apologize.
  • Celebrities are just as screwed up as you are, they just have more money.
  • Money doesn’t guarantee happiness.

Most importantly, focus on improving yourself, and don’t spend so much psychic energy on the lives of celebrities, friends, enemies, or imaginary people. Believe me, it won’t improve your life in the slightest.
