Most people use pencils to draw art, 45 year old Brazilian born carpenter Dalton Ghetti also uses pencils to create art but not in the traditional way, he actually sculpts his art work out of pencils.  Dalton started carving out pencils back when he was in grade school, carving out his friends’ names on pencils.

Later he decided to create incredibly detailed miniature sculptures out of the lead part of pencils.  25 years later, he gives us this incredible collection of sculptures, pictured below.  One of the most incredible things about Dalton and his sculptures is that he doesn’t use a magnifying glass to work on his sculptures.  He uses sewing needles, blades and some special knives to carve out the pencils.  Dalton must have an incredible amount of patience, as he spent 2.5 years just working on the alphabet sculptures.

As Occupy Wall Street continues, the emotions for everyone involved are running higher with each passing day. With the addition of veterans, solidarity statements from around the world, and other cities experiencing their own versions of the protest, we know this is a standoff that won’t end easily. Regardless of where you stand and how you feel about any of the participants and their actions, this incredible display is going to change the world we know. It’s one thing to see the thousands of amazing photographs of this important slice of history, but London artist Guy Denning has begun chronicling these world altering events in simple swirls of charcoal and conte. There’s a tremendous sense of emotion and movement in these incredible pieces, even though they appear hastily sketched on whatever was close at hand. Over the past several months, we’ve come across some pretty amazing time-lapse videos. Around the World in 5 Minutes is one of my favorites and I really enjoyed the production of the music. The ISS Earth time-lapse by Michael Konig also takes us around the world but we got to see it from the astronaut’s point of view.

Sheldon Neil and Colin Delhanty have collaborated to create a stunning time-lapse of Yosemite National Park in high-definition. All the time-lapses were shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and a variety of Canon L and Zeiss CP.2 lenses were used. The video, titled Project Yosemite, shows images of sunrises, sunsets, the bright night sky, and beautiful mountain views.
