We always keep an eye out for the coolest art projects to hit the interwebs, and French photographer Laurent Laveder has a series of pieces that certainly fit the bill. ‘Moon Games’ is a series of silhouettes featuring props that show people interacting with the moon. There’s not actually much going on in these photos, but sometimes the simplest concepts have the biggest impact. Being the jaded internet denizen that I am, I feel obligated to take the Unfinished Man team out to hold up cardboard goatse hands over the next full moon. The Ultimate Movie Montage – 739 Clips in 15 Minutes
I was trolling around Youtube looking for music by The Glitch Mob (whom I love for their dirty, industrial chill sound) and stumbled across this phenomenal video by Khameleon808 – ‘The Apple Tree – Feat. The Glitch Mob‘ is a flawlessly executed montage of 739 distinct and separate movie clips, seamlessly set to an epic score of Glitch Mob remixes. It’s pretty amazing; the video clips often have absolutely nothing to do with one another and there’s no dialogue, yet somehow the piece is a cohesive whole you can’t turn away from. I can’t imagine the obscene amount of time it would have taken to stitch hundreds of clips together, match action to musical features and to add in the jumps and pops that are characteristic to The Glitch Mob’s sound. The top notch editing and wicked bassy tracks will keep you riveted, but the fact that it’s basically 15 minutes of boobs, explosions, and fighting definitely helps too. Video after the jump.
Rugged Reclaimed Furniture – Rail Yard Studios
Nothing says finished man like ruggedly sexy home decor. Forget throw pillows and pastel color schemes- Rail Yard Studios has begun building stunning, macho furniture out of reclaimed rail ties and pieces of historical railways. Some of the pieces of steel and nails used were originally placed as far back as 1899, and were being sold for scrap when the railways were scheduled to be updated. Normally, rail ties are creosote treated, but often before they even get to that stage, they are singled out for flaws and slated to be sent to the furnace. This brilliant design house intercepts these ties before they’re completely wasted and creates the intriguingly badass furniture pictured after the jump.
David Gilliver’s Light Photography – Neon Orbs and Ribbons
Light exposure photography is one of those simple things that never ceases to amaze me- you see thousands of exciting applications of it all over the web, but somehow, each new photo still manages to blow my mind. One of my favorite light painters is David Gilliver; where you normally see a lot of sketched lines or car tail lights, he’s mainly focused on creating geometric elements with perfect orbs and winding ribbons. The scope of his images is immense- large, open locales feature huge trails or precise placement of carefully crafted luminescence. None of these photos are retouched- he runs around in the black of night dressed like a burglar to avoid being caught on film. Check out his brilliant work after the jump.

Sophisticated Stacking – Slate Sculpture by Stephen Kettle
It seems as though we have a desire from birth to pile shit on top of other shit. Alphabet blocks transition into beer can stacking, ending in professional careers as construction workers, architects and longshoremen. Enter Stephen Kettle– slate sculpture artist who painstakingly stacks thousands of slivers of thin stone into unbelievable pieces of art. Kettle has had a pretty interesting life outside of his OCD art form; as a member of the Oxford Dangerous Sports club, he was one of five men thrown over 100 yards from a medieval trebuchet that was so large it had to be loaded with a Range Rover, which sounds pretty awesome. Unfortunately, the fifth man was thrown to his death, and this apparently convinced Kettle that sculpting was a much better lifestyle and occupational choice. While maybe not as badass, that choice has worked out well, with his pieces being displayed in galleries and museums around the UK.
