Ken Block is a household name now, at least in car-loving households, thanks to his shenanigans in his Gymkhana videos. For his latest Gymkhana, he will be using a rear wheel drive car for the first time, which is a 1978 Ford Escort Mk2 RS.
The Ford Escort Mk2 RS was quite the car in its day, but for Ken Block it had to be totally re-done to shred tires, drive like a race car, and of course, drift. The car features a custom suspension set up to around tight obstacles with as much speed as possible. That speed is provided by a naturally aspirated 2.5 liter 4-cylinder Millington engine, producing 333 horsepower at 9,000 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The car has also been completely gutted for the best power to weight ratio, the interior comes with a pair of Recaro bucket seats and a roll cage.
The car will featured in Gymkhana 8 in 2016 and used in other stuff Ken Block comes up with. Below is a short video clip of the Ken Block Escort MK2 RS, shredding its tires.
