Muscle cars have always been known for their straight-line performance, but the new breed of muscle cars are also pretty good at being “sports cars”, and can be pretty lethal track weapons. The Chevrolet Camaro, which is now offered with the 1LE package, is just that, a track oriented Camaro that can also be used on a daily basis.
The 1LE package is available on the V8 engine equipped cars, and for the first time on V6 equipped cars. The package offers a more aerodynamic body providing extra downforce, better brakes and suspension, and better cooling for the engine. Resulting in better lap times. Neither of the engines get any upgrades and therefore power is the same, but the improved setup should drop seconds off lap times compared to Camaros not equipped with this package. Both the V8 and V6 engine equipped cars are only offered with 6-speed manual transmissions.
The 2017 Chevy Camaro 1LE cars will be unveiled at the Chicago Motor Show, and will be available at dealerships in the spring. No word on pricing yet.
