Expert Guide to Getting Older & Still Looking Good

Age comes to us all and no matter what we do we are all going to get older, it’s one of the undeniable facts of life. But that doesn’t mean we need it to be negative in how we look. There are lots of articles that will talk about staying young or looking X amount of years younger than you do! None of that nonsense here, you might be 40, 50, 60, 70 years old or more and there’s nothing wrong with that, looking good for your age shouldn’t mean trying to look younger than your age. Take the example of celebs that use surgical procedures to try and stay young, it rarely looks good, does it?

Dress in an Age-Appropriate Way

So the first step is how to dress. Age-appropriate is the key here, no-one wants to see an old guy in a tracksuit for example. Classic, well-tailored fashion should be the way to go. Take a suit, that’s never bad, but you don’t even need to be as formal as that. Consider a smart-casual look, nice shirt, good trousers and shoes will always be good.

East Well

Junk food is a big no. When young you can almost get away with it. But as you get older the metabolism slows down and any poor diet will be more visibly punished. Use a food diary to keep track of what you eat and there are plenty of apps to track this such as NutraCheck or My Fitness Pal, these can monitor your calorie intake but also the levels of salt, fat, carbs, etc allowing an informed approach to health and fitness.

Sort Out Your Hair

It’s important to have your hair sorted out, as good fashion sense and a body that’s in shape won’t look as good if your hair is a complete mess. If you visit a good barber or stylist ask if they have any ideas about how you wear your hair, they may have ideas you’ve never thought of. If you have no hair, a common problem, but you can get treatment such as Scalp Micropigmentation near Las Vegas to help out.

Exercise

Stay in shape, exercise and you’ll look better, feel better and prolong your life. Go to the gym, swim lengths, even take up a new sport if you can? If you have no access to exercise equipment there are still loads of options, you get fit with nothing at all as well.

Cut Out Smoking & Drinking

If you like a drink or a smoke, or even both, then it’s time to cut these out. It can only be bad for your health, gives you bad skin and teeth and with the booze can contribute heavily to weight gain. It may not be easy to give up the habit, especially with smoking, but there are many ways of doing this these days, nicotine replacement products are varied and plentiful these days, the traditional gum or patches are readily available and the introduction of vaping adds another option.

Check Your Own Ailments (And Fix Them)

It’s not an easy thing to check when you’re fit as a fiddle, but as you get older there can be niggling problems that can get worse if we do nothing about them. Little pains can be fixed by newer, more alternative medicines like CBD, and according to Health.com magazine, CBD creams can work wonders in this respect. But when you have aches and pains, it’s important to find out why you feel this way. It could be a marker of inflammation, or it might be a sign that you’re running too much (especially when your knees begin to deteriorate in your forties). Take the opportunity to “check-in” with yourself and fix the little issues.
