Understanding How the Zika Virus is Transmitted

There has been a lot of news about the spread of the Zika virus this past year. The virus started an epidemic in Africa and has been spreading to different parts of the world. There have been a total of over 300 reported Zika infections in the United States according to a study complied by the Master of Public Health department at the University of Arizona. While the virus is most dangerous to pregnant women, it is still important to understand how the virus is transmitted to prevent further spread.

The virus basically gets transmitted through mosquito bites. Aedes mosquitos that bite an infected person can then bite another person and transmit the virus. Transmission can also happen through sexual activities or through the transmission of bodily fluids.
