Here’s an interesting article from Instructables user jacco1997 on how to replace ordinary shoe laces with strips of bike inner-tube to turn lace up shoes into slip ons. According to the article, the only thing you need is a sharp pair of scissors, and an old inner tube, which you can likely pick up from a bike repair shop for free.

The result is actually a lot nicer than I would have expected, and I can see this being especially useful for cyclists, or anyone too lazy to tie up their laces. I have a few friends who warp and stretch the hell out of their shoes by never undoing the laces, and trying to cram their feet into the shoe anyway.
