Teqball: The Soccer, Table Tennis, Volleyball Combination Game

What do you get when you combine table tennis, soccer, tennis, and volleyball? Teqball.

Teqball is a new game or sport that looks pretty hard to play, but it could be a quite a lot of fun if you already have some soccer/football skills. The game can also be a great way to learn new football skills for kids or anyone that wants to improve skills or just have fun playing a new type of game.

Rules of Teqball

The rules of Teqball are a combination of rules from games like table tennis, soccer, volleyball, and tennis. The game uses a table/board as the playing surface, so a combination of tennis and table tennis rules are applied to the playing surface. A combination of soccer/football and volleyball rules is applied to the players touching the ball and the number of touches.
Like table tennis, each player (in singles game) takes one side of the table and serves 4 times in a row, unlike table tennis’ 5 times in a row. The player is allowed to serve using any part of the body, other than hands; the serve must land behind the service line. Like tennis, two serves per point are allowed.

The receiving player can return the serve with up to three touches but he/she cannot use the same body part for two consecutive touches. In doubles a game, the same three touches are allowed but for the entire team and the touches must be alternated between the two players.

The players are not allowed to touch the game table/board, they’re also not allowed to cross over into the opponent’s space, and cannot touch the opponent. If the ball hits the side of the table, the point must be replayed. A player wins a set by reaching 12 points first; the winner must win by two points in the final set.

Teqball looks like quite an interesting game, I have absolutely zero football skills and I know I’ll be pretty bad at this game. But I think it could be a great way for me to go from zero to a somewhat less embarrassing skill level with enough play time. For more info, visit teqball.com
