How to Style Your Old Clothes

Every few years it seems that we need to update our wardrobes. Clothes become too big or too small. Some items of clothing get completely worn out and others are just not in style anymore.

You may be wondering how you can use some of your old clothes to make them look like something new and stylish.

Of course, shopping for new clothes is fun but what if you don’t have the money for that right now? Or maybe you simply don’t want to spend the money and you’d rather try to reuse what you have.

Adding accessories is a great way to enhance the look of a plain old shirt. A scarf, necklace or a belt can really change the look of something, for the better. Be creative and try different colors and styles.

A plain button up shirt would look cute with the sleeves rolled up or maybe tucked into your jeans or skirt. It will look more fitted this way too, rather than the shirt just hanging on you.

A long, baggy shirt tied together in the front or pulled to the side in a knot will add a feminine touch. You could even cut part of the shirt to make this work for you. Add cute jeans, some accessories and heels and you will have an outfit that you can pull off as dressy or casual.

Cuff your pants to better show off your shoes! This creates a different look on your pants but it works and looks great with certain styles of jeans. It will draw attention to your feet so make them look good with colorful heels or booties.

Wearing boots with skinny jeans is a great look too. You can show off your boots and the skinny jeans make you look thinner.
If you own several scarves but you are tired of wearing them the same way, try something different. Tie a scarf into your hair. If you have long hair like I do, you can braid a scarf into your hair.

Use one as a belt. Just this simple accessory will make your outfit look dressed up.
When the weather is cool, layer up! A tunic paired with a blazer or jean jacket looks very stylish. Wear with skinny jeans or cute leggings. Finish it off with boots or heels. You probably already have these items in your closet. Before you go out and buy a bunch of new clothes, see what you have first.

Take some time one evening to look through everything. Pull out your favorite items of clothing then look at what else you have that can go with it.

Many jeans, plain white shirts and denim jackets can go with just about anything. Try on different outfits that you have pieced together.

Look online for ideas too. There are many unique and creative clothing tricks to try. If you do need to buy some items to go with the things you already have, be sure to search for printable coupons first. If you order online, look for coupons or promo codes to use for your purchase. You can get a decent size percentage off of your total or even get free shipping.

Stores such as American Eagle Outfitters have clothes that are stylish and pretty good quality. They have accessories and handbags too.

No matter what you have, you probably have something you can use in a new way. Before you get rid of all of those old clothes try to make it work first. As long as it looks nice and is comfortable too. Also, bring out your creativity and wear what shows your personality.
