Splinter Cell: Blacklist – First Screenshots

I don’t know where exactly these are from, but they appear to be the very first screenshots of Ubisoft’s upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the sucessor to their previous smash hit, Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Conviction was a huge departure from the series in terms of style and gameplay, and judging by these screenshots, I have a feeling that Blacklist will be as well. I find it a shame, but the numbers don’t lie. It appears that many gamer’s prefer the highly aggressive, thoughtless, action here-eque gameplay introduced in Conviction. You’re right, I’m totally not being passive aggressive about the whole thing.

I haven’t seen any concrete details posted about the game, but I bet that’s going to change in the comings days as details start pouring out from E3 2012. Again, based on the screenshots, this appears to take place in the Middle East, a location that’s been virtually untouched by game developers, and one that the Blacklist team will no doubt exploit in a completely new and original way, to go with their new and never before used location, featuring enemies (terrorists?), which is a notion I would have never even considered. I don’t know who they hired to design the game, but I stand up and applaud their originality.

The Splinter Cell: Blacklist release date is currently unknown, along with many details about the game, but I speculate that it will arrive eventually. I would love to provide a more concrete release date, but given that Sam Fisher has gained the ability to time travel (shown quite clearly by his now youthful visage), I can’t begin to imagine what year the game may hit store shelves. Who knows, Sam may even beam it back into the past!
