Opulence Where it Counts: The World’s Most Expensive Consumer Cars

In the 2014 automotive market there is truly no shortage of opulent cars – and by “Opulent Cars,” I mean opulent in a sense of “Holy s&*^! That car would drive me into a Motor City level of debt!” These vehicles are available to consumers in a sense, but believe me — you may need to be the shadiest of bankers to afford some of these beasts of the road:

1) To kick the monetary debauchery off we have the Hennessy Venom GT. Not to be confused with Hennessy cognac–a halftime swilling favorite of the artist formerly known as Ron Artest – this monstrosity will set you back about $1.2 million, a price tag that would fetch enough fifths of Hennessy cognac to cover a Rick Ross world tour (about 30,000 bottles to be exact, but who’s counting?).

The Hennessy Venom GT is produced in the UK, and reportedly accelerates from 0-60 MPH in 2.7 second, which is a godsend if your occupation is mowing down kudus in your vehicle through the brushes of Tanzania. If you’ve got the bank account to snag one of these bad boys you should get on the horn immediately, because only 29 are planning to be manufactured in 2014.

2) Next we have the Ferrari F12berlinetta. Hailing from boot-shaped Italy, the asking price will surely be a kick in the ass for every divorcee going through a midlife crisis. At an estimated $316,000 per manufactured unit, the F12berlinetta is significantly cheaper than the Hennessey Venom GT, making it accessible enough for a moderately successful American business owner to bankrupt himself with.

The Ferrari F12berlinetta exceeds speeds of 125 MPH in as little as nine seconds, and is said to be the fastest consumer-ready Ferrari on the market. The rapid acceleration of the vehicle is convenient for those hoping to get their intoxicated bar hook-up to a more private setting before she sobers up and realizes she’s with an old man in the Chevy Aveo of supercars.

The good news is enough of the Ferrari F12berlinettas will be produced for anyone who truly wants one bad enough to purchase.

3) Now back to the other end of the “Oh my God–I’ve ruined the lives of my family” spectrum of purchases, the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster checks in at an anus-puckering $4.5 million. If you focus hard enough you can actually see the first round NFL pick filing for bankruptcy.

Anyway, this is the King of Kings in the 2014 road-acceptable supercar field with a maximum speed in excess of 220 MPH, and this vehicle is truly about excess. The Veneno Roadster reportedly has a shockingly lightweight body, and doesn’t everyone hurtling through time and space at 220 MPH want to do it in an incredibly lightweight vehicle?

The Veneno Roadster is certainly eye-catching, but those with enough scratch to afford one might be out of luck, as only nine vehicles are planned for production in 2014. Better be quick!
