Mercedes-Benz V-Class – Not Just For Soccer Moms

A minivan?  It’s not something we normally write about, but this is a Mercedes-Benz produced minivan and looks utilitarian-ish, and not only is it an MB, but it’s a real Mercedes, not like the B-Class.  So V-Class gets a thumb of approval from me to be presented here.

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class minivan is a pretty decent looking vehicle; if someone were to put a gun to my head and force me to buy a minivan; I’d probably go with the V-Class.  After all, it does have the “three-pointed star” on the hood and the interior is going to be luxurious and the ride very comfortable.  In a way, the V-Class is like a bastard child of the S-Class and G-Class, minus any off-road capabilities.

The inside is where the V-Class shines, with more room than an S-Class, it would make for a great way to shuttle important clients.  The interior is very luxurious, with the front cabin using similar styling as the new C-Class.  The dashboard is very clean looking with a plank of wood across it and a large pop-up touch-screen right in the middle.  I’m not a big fan of the way the screen sticks out, I’m seeing more and more automakers doing it this way, I’m not sure if it retracts into the dashboard on the V-Class, if it does, that makes it a bit more acceptable.

The V-Class can seat up to 8 passengers, depending on which seating configuration you choose.  The van or MPV will come in three body lengths from 192.7” to 211.4” with two different wheelbases.  The rear seats come in bench form of captain’s chairs, the latter option allows you to configure the seats facing each other.  Both types of seats can be removed from the vehicle, creating a very large cargo area.

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class MPV comes with a 2.1 liter 4-Cylinder diesel engine that has three output levels.  In the V200 CDI the engine produces 134 horsepower and 243 pound-feet of torque, the V220 CDI comes with 161 HP and 280 lb-ft, and the V250 BlueTEC comes with 187 HP and 324 lb-ft of torque.  These engines choices are offered for the European models, Mercedes says they’ll be bringing the V-Class to the US market, so expect to see some gasoline engine choices.

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class MPV will go on sale in Europe in March and later in the United States, although we don’t know exactly when and what its starting price will be.  Via: MB
