The first step on Fiverr is to create a gig. You can choose the title and then specify what exactly you’ll offer for that amount. You can choose your timeframe, specifications, and detail anything you don’t want people to request and things you’re really good at. Someone can then purchase your gig and give you the necessary details for you to get started. Once they submit that information, the clock starts counting down to the timeframe you specified for that gig.
The downside is that Fiverr does take 20% of each sale, however, there are ways to boost the amount you make on the website so that you’re not just consistently making $4 on every sale.
Add Extras
You have the ability to add extras to any gig and this can vary depending on what you’re offering. You can choose the amount you want people to pay extra for each thing and then request extra time if necessary. For example, if your gig is to write a 500 word blog post, you could have an extra that added two extra days to add 500 more words, for a total of 1,000, for $10. Or, if you’re offering a logo you can have extras for people to purchase extra versions of the file. The options are really endless.
Have Packages
On Fiverr you’ll have the opportunity to have packages for gigs, so as the amount of work increases, so do your rates. This is not like extras because the person is only buying one thing, it’s just a higher package. For example, if you’re offering an editing service you could charge $5 to edit 500 words, but then $10 for 1,000 and $20 for 2,000 or more, etc. You can then offer revisions or feedback as extras.
The key to making money on Fiverr is to only list gigs that you know you can do relatively quickly and will give you a quick turnaround time. This means you’ll be able to complete more tasks in a day and therefore earn more money. If you’re offering too much for the money, you’ll find yourself doing tons of work without actually getting much out if it, and that’s of course not the point.
