Going Topless: Audi R8 GT Spyder

Just in time for summer, Audi unveils their latest drop top, the Audi R8 GT Spyder.  The R8 is a pretty good looking car but the GT Spyder is drop-dead gorgeous.  Going topless never looked so good.

The Audi R8 GT Spyder is a limited edition supercar; only 333 examples will be produced at a price of 207,800 in Germany or about $302,878 at today’s exchange rate.  The price does seem a bit high but should be in line with the upcoming Ferrari 458 Italia Spyder and the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster.

So what do you get for spending over $300k?  A supercar that’s power by a 5.2 liter FSI V10 engine producing 560 horsepower and 398 pound-feet (540 Nm) of torque and weighing 187 pounds (85 kg) less than the standard R8 Spyder thanks to the liberal use of carbon fiber components.  The R8 GT Spyder sprints to 62 mph in 3.8 seconds and tops out at 197 mph (317 km/h).

The limited edition Audi R8 GT Spyder is equipped with a standard rag-top and gets a luxurious Alcantara covered interior with red or titanium highlights.
