Five Workouts for When You Don’t Want to Go to The Gym

The great outdoors. Pretty much the best work-out place a man can get. Perhaps you’re sick of being stuck in the gym and want some fresh air. You could be looking to save some money at cut down on those gym bills. Whatever your reasons are, there’s nothing stopping you from getting all your fitness requirements from the great outdoors. Here are some of the great exercises that you can do under that bright blue sky.

Walking

Not the most intense kind of workout available. Still, walking is a great cardio-workout and a way to burn those calories if that’s what you’re after. If you’re new to exercise, walking should definitely be part of your beginner’s regimen. Eventually, you will want to start upgrading as you move from your body right now towards your ideal, but a good daily walk is the place to start.

Cycling

A much more effective form of cardio exercise than walking. It also has the benefits of doing a lot for muscle strength and flexibility. You’ve probably already heard the favourite phrase of the internet: “never skip leg day”. Well, it you get yourself some cycling kits and find a few routes you can use time and time again, your legs will never feel neglected again.

You can model the intensity and length of your exercise as easily as choosing a new road, too. Whenever you’re feeling like more of challenge, just go further and higher than before.

High intensity interval training

This is the kind of exercise for those who are looking to see big results in a big amount of time. If you’re new to fitness, leave these for a while until you’re more confident. Even those who on peak form can get utterly exhausted and be left sore by this kind of training. But it’s for good reason.

Nothing produces faster muscle growth and cardio fitness. Even the pain is a good means of making exercise easier on your body in general. All you need for this kind of training is a hill and you’re off. Just make sure you recover properly after this one so you don’t do more bad than good. A personal trainer can keep you on track, and thankfully good ones are easy to find. For example, if you’re in Singapore on business, just type “Personal trainer Singapore” into your favorite search engine and start looking up reviews.

Jump rope

A fantastic way of, again, building that cardiovascular fitness. The jump rope is also great for your building the muscles of your core and giving yourself a lot more agility. Forget any notions that this is a game for little girls.

The right jump rope exercise will push to your limits and be all you need to lose weight and build muscle at the same time.

Tennis

The perfect way to develop hand-eye coordination as well as to sweat off a few stone. Tennis is one of the great outdoor sports for conditioning because of the constant motion and changes in direction it requires.

It will leave you feeling heavy from your fingers to your toes but that’s just an indication that it’s doing its job. It has the added benefit of being all kinds of competitive. There’s little better motivation than the need to sincerely beat the other guy.
