Conair for Men – Grooming Beards and… Things?

Since I was first able to grow facial hair, I had this idea that growing a beard or moustache would be a wonderful thing. I would would look rugged, I would be able to punch bears in the face, and the ladies would swoon and praise my bristly face at every opportunity. Growing out some facial hair was a flawless idea… and I had the perfect opportunity to test this out.

After having spent a week out of town watching baseball, and having purposely neglected bringing my electric razor, I was set. I had a face full of bristles, and a brand new Conair® for Men 12-Piece All-In-One Beard, Mustache & Stubble Trimmer just waiting to be transformed into an amazing, highly stylish… bad-ass moustache.

What you’re about to read is a brief account of my beard trimming experience with the Conair, and my feelings about facial hair trimmers in general.

Conair for Men – Trimming your facial hair… in… style?

You may be surprised to learn that I’ve laboured over writing this. You see, I was so incredibly excited to receive this trimmer. I had such grandiose facial hair plans… the things I wanted to do, you have no idea. The reality, though, is that facial hair often looks terrible. It took me a long time to come to terms with this, and it took this fancy trimmer to finally figure it out. On some people – like myself – it simply looks awful, no matter what fancy trimmer is used to style it.

This is right before I “styled” my facial hair.

Then there’s another, and perhaps more important element to my struggle. This is a trimmer that trims facial hair, and it’s about the same as every other trimmer on the market. There’s a trimmer, there are some guards, and then there’s a handy little sack to put all the guards in – the latter being the one defining quality of this kit. I literally couldn’t find a single other difference. So on that note…

What I liked and/or felt Neutral about the Conair Beard Trimmer

  • It trims hair with a reasonable level of simplicity. I read the guide, and I was successfully able to shorten the length of the hair on my face using this device. Amazing, no?
  • It didn’t explode or cut me, which is wonderful. I had an electric razor that broke mid shave once and sliced my face open. That was really annoying.
  • It has multiple guards so that you can style your putrid looking facial hair in any number of ways.
  • The guards allow you to create faux-stubble at will, meaning you can scratch and irritate your girlfriend’s skin any day of the week.
  • It’s black and silver, which are both manly colours.
  • It’s almost exactly the same as a pubic hair trimmer, so if your go-to trimmer happens to break down, you’ll have the perfect back up. Just remember to wash the guards before using it on your face.

And that’s it… I think that about covers it. The only points that I missed and that one may consider noteworthy are that this trimmer can also shorten both your nose AND ear hair, though not at the same time. I’ve tried it on my nose, and it does in fact shorten the hair. As for the ear bit, I can only speculate. I had no idea that people could grow hair in their ears. Perhaps that’s the next trend in style and fashion?

    • Yeah, I think better planning would have helped in this situation. Deciding on a proper style… probably growing the hair out longer, etc.
