Assassin’s Creed 3 – Killing Minutemen Trailer

Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit here; that’s not really the title of this Assassin’s Creed 3 trailer, but Connor does it, he really does it!

This trailer highlights all the amazing new-fangled featured of AnvilNext, Ubisoft’s latest and greatest version of the graphics engine that powers the AC franchise. As you’re about to see, it seems that they’ve dramatically increased the amount of enemies that the player can see on screen at any given time. Not only that, but  the world itself looks a hell of a lot bigger and more vibrant as well.

I’m excited about this trailer for a number of reasons. The graphics look pretty solid for a console based game, and our “conflicted hero” Connor finally shows some uh… conflict. We’ve seen trailer after trailer of him knocking down British Redcoats left, right, and center, but never one of the minutemen. Finally we see this, and I can stop ragging on Ubisoft for pandering so much. Thank you.

leprechaunNow, the only thing that really confuses me about the trailer is that there’s an Irish person explaining everything. I’ve got nothing against the Irish, but that seems like a very deliberate choice. I’m curious why Ubisoft made that decision, instead of going with a Quebecor, or… a Jamaican person. Will there be a secret little people romping around, plotting things, and hiding buckets of gold for the player to discover? I think that would certainly add an interesting element lacking from the AC franchise so far.

As you must know from reading all of my posts, Assassin’s Creed 3 arrives arrived on October 31st, 2012 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Haha, nah… I’m just kidding, we all know that there’s no way in hell they’ll release the PC version on time. I estimate that release date as February 24th, 2013.

Edit: Shockingly, they did release all three versions at almost the exact same time, and you can now order them online for about $39.99 USD. Frankly, I’m kind of amazed.
