Amazon’s Record Sales in The U.K.

Accounts show that, the biggest online retail platform; Amazon’s UK sales smashed past the £6 billion mark last year despite tough times in British retailing.

Britain is Amazon’s third biggest market after America and Germany. UK sales from e-books, electronics and other goods have more than doubled from 2010 and now generate about 8 per cent of the company’s global sales. Until last year, most of its UK sales was routed via Luxembourg.

The company reported record sales in the final three months of the year, driven by a surge in online shopping over the holiday season and demand for its cloud services.

With Prime shipping service, around five billion items were shipped worldwide in 2017. In 2017 more “new paid” members joined the scheme than in any previous year, both worldwide and in UK. A particular week in the last quarter of 2017 recorded about four million new sign-ups with Amazon.

Prime members have access to fast shipping, exclusive movies and tv shows on Amazon Prime Video and extra benefits when using the company’s voice-controlled Alexa equipment.

Amazon has been focusing on boosting Prime subscribers; its “most important customer base”.

BLACK FRIDAY DEALS

Black Friday was first created in the US. It traditionally marks the beginning of the shopping season during the festive time of Christmas. The sale takes place on the fourth Friday in November or the week after Thanksgiving. This trend has quickly spread to the UK and other countries including France, Denmark, India, Panama, Canada and Sweden.

In the UK, this day also marks the start of stores making huge profits for the upcoming year.

Black Friday at Amazon was established in 2010 and it offers the best giveaway prices on top brands and selected unique products.
Last year’s event saw products discounted by up to 70% – a new deal was announced every ten minutes. This year will be bigger and better than ever bargains that have never been witnessed before will be offered by the sellers.

Black Friday at Amazon also means that you can avoid the crowds; last year in the UK high street outlets were mobbed with customers. Black sale day allows you to explore more products comfortably inside your house at the same significantly discounted prices.Get a head start on your Christmas shopping or treat yourself to something special with the Black Friday event that puts you first.

Black Friday is still the day for “steals” for the consumers.
Despite the growing competition from other retailers, with a few exceptions, Black Friday in July isn’t quite the Black Friday. At least not yet.
