As life gets increasingly busier for all of us, our brains begin to become overloaded. It’s hard for us to concentrate. We feel tired and distracted. At the same time, we’re anxious. Our brains are constantly buzzing with obligations, worries, and what-ifs.
Most drugs and supplements only handle part of the equation while making the other side worse. Either they perk you up and make you more alert while causing you to feel jittery and even more anxious. Other medications quell anxiety while leaving you feeling sluggish and foggy.
Most people don’t realize that there’s a supplement that can help with cognitive function and anxiety. It’s called picamilon. Never heard of it? That’s ok! Let’s talk a little bit about what it is, how to take it, and where you can find it.
What Is Picamilon?
First discovered in 1969, picamilon was developed by Soviet researchers as an anxiety-reducing drug that could also enhance cognitive function. Its anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) effects come from the fact that it can cross the blood-brain barrier and deliver GABA, which is a chemical that works on the brain’s GABA receptors to help quell anxiety. Examples of other drugs that activate GABA receptors are benzodiazepines, which work particularly well on anxiety but can cause dependence and abuse if used over long periods of time.
Benzodiazepines can also cause the user to feel drowsy and mentally sluggish, which brings us to picamilon’s other benefit: it improves cognitive function. In addition to GABA, it contains niacin, an ingredient that works as a vasodilator, opening up constricted vessels and allowing better blood flow to the brain. At the same time it calms anxiety, picamilon causes the user to feel more alert, better able to concentrate, and improves memory and overall brain function.
Picamilon also has other benefits. Many people find that it helps them fall asleep more easily and get better rest as they sleep. It’s been studied for its ability to treat retinal disorders such as macular degeneration and central chorioretinal dystrophy. It helps protect the brain as well as prevent inflammation of the nerves.
What Should I Know About Taking Picamilon?
The recommended dosage of picamilon is 50 to 100 mg every day. If needed, you can increase your daily dosage to 200mg in the morning and 100mg in the mid-afternoon. Effects generally kick in within one hour, and you should wait 4 to 6 hours to give picamilon time to work before taking an additional dose.
Picamilon side effects are typically mild and can include dizziness and nausea. Taking it with food can help prevent an upset stomach. Avoid combining it with other drugs that affect the brain’s GABA receptors, as well as with aspirin and uricosuric agents (due to the niacin in the supplement).
Where Can I Find Picamilon?
Despite picamilon’s anti-anxiety and brain-boosting benefits, it can be hard to find; you won’t typically find it on the shelves of your local supplement or health food store. For the highest quality products, it’s best to buy picamilon online. Once you receive your picamilon, start with the lowest dose of 50 mg a day and work your way up until you get the desired results. Once you find the right dosage, you’ll notice that you feel sharper and more calm than ever before.
