Yogibo Lounge Bag - The Baby Looks Happy

A while back I received an email from a very nice woman asking me to review a brand new chair at her client’s behest. I hummed and hawed about this for weeks simply because the company was unwilling to provide a sample and, in my mind, how could I possibly review a product I’ve never used? So what I’ve decided to do is simply write a brief sort of… overview. It will be based solely on the information and pictures available on the website, and I’ll throw in the company’s press release below for good measure.

For starters, the chair is called Yogibo. Now, I don’t know what that means exactly, but for me it inspired images of people reclining on a glassy eyed Yogi Bear. It turns out that the chair is not simply a taxidermists wet dream, but instead something resembling a giant inflatable pillow or squished marshmallow, which is possibly how the various children were lured into sitting on them.

On that note, the Yogibo appears to be designed with breastfeeding mothers in mind, which is pretty awesome, right? I mean, the website shows a baby chomping down, so that’s something I guess.

Whether it’s a man cave, dorm room or your parents basement – Yogibo is an essential item for the young modern man who appreciates effortless comfort, the art of lounging and multifunctional gadgets. Yogibo is a stylish alternative to a traditional chair. When you sit on a Yogibo, it conforms to you thanks to the recyclable, near-frictionless materials of the bag that act as a cradle for your body.

Yogibo also can double as an awesome gaming chair – the innovative design of the bag filling (a combination of cotton, elastics and beads) prevents aching backs and numb bum after spending countless hours mastering the new Call of Duty Black Ops. Once you beat the game, flip it over, sink in and take a snooze. Yogibo is large enough to use as a bed or as a couch to seat your gaming crew. And the best part? It only takes up to 3 square feet of space when stood up right for easy storage and more space.

Yogibo comes in 11 durable/washable lining covers and is available at the new retail location at Natick Collection or online.

I’m happy that the company has decided to place such emphasis on gamers. I envision men retiring from a long day playing World of Warcraft, or (as the press release states), Call of Duty, and sinking themselves into the chair for a good wank to end the day with a happy ending.

These “lounge bags” are now available for purchase online in North America — breast feeding woman not included.

I bought a Yogibo for my son for his birthday. When we took it home and opened the plastic wrap we were both overwhelmed by chemical fumes. The staff said to air it out for awhile and that it was safe, made out of polystyrene. I did a little research on polystyrene and found that it is a known neurotoxin, a possible carcinogen, and the 5th leading producer of hazardous waste. I called the store to let them know we would be returning it and why, and the manager then acknowledged that there are polymers in the product that are “technically toxic”. I just want to make people aware, especially since it’s geared toward children.
