This Year, Get Dad Something He’ll Actually Use

If you’re like me, as another Father’s Day swings around, you’re probably wondering what to get the dad who has everything. Over the years, I’ve gotten my father sports paraphernalia, grilling accessories, and subscriptions to various “Item of the Month” clubs. (The Cheese of the Month Club put me on my mother’s bad list; their fridge was smelly for the entire year.)

This year, it occurred to me that I should get Dad something he can use every day. All the men in my family have various styles of facial hair and all of the women in my family are forever harassing us to keep it neat and trimmed. With this in mind, I’m researching shavers that my father can use to keep looking spiffy (which will make my mother a lot happier than a year’s worth of cheese). Here are the three finalists on my list:

Wahl LifeProof Shaver
Wahl Lifeproof Shaver 7061 100.hero

I have my smartphone encased in a LifeProof case, so this bright yellow shaver really fascinated me. It has a high-impact, shockproof housing that protects it if it’s dropped or immersed in water for up to 30 minutes. It runs for 90 minutes on a full, one-hour charge. It also has a five-minute quick-charge option.

Skin irritation can be a big problem with shavers, which is why the Wahl Lifeproof Shaver has dual floating foil shaver heads. Why two? They use both symmetrical and asymmetrical foil patterns, which means that the shaver can cut hairs that grow in different directions without running it back and forth over sensitive facial skin. The foils are fully washable stainless steel, making them easy to clean. Although Dad doesn’t travel often, there’s an electronic travel lock to keep it secure when he and mom do go on trips. At an MSRP of $79.99, it’s a very affordable option, as well.

Wahl Lithium Ion Multigroom
Wahl Lithium Ion Multigroom Trimmer 9888 600.kit

Dad’s always experimenting with different beard styles. We rib him about it constantly, but I have to say that I’m impressed by his ability to completely change his look with a few minutes in front of the bathroom mirror. With its four different heads that can accommodate 13 cutting lengths, the Wahl Lithium Ion Multigroom would be a lot of fun for Dad to play around with. It’s perfect for trimming and detailing, as well as getting a nice shave when you’re ready to be baby-faced for a bit.

The lithium ion batteries in this groomer can run for three and a half hours on a single charge. Even better? The quick charge only takes one minute – perfect for our chronically late and disorganized father. Best of all? The Wahl Lithium Ion Multigroom is only $39.99.

Wahl Comfort Grip Pro Clipper
Wahl Comfort Grip Pro Clipper 79610 300.hero

My Dad hates going to the barber shop for a haircut. He detests it with a passion normally reserved for male hatred of romantic comedies and baby showers, which is why the Wahl Comfort Grip Pro Clipper ended up on my list. Its compact size and soft grip handle make it easy to use for at-home haircuts, but it’s also great for facial hair trimming and body grooming.

Even though it’s small, the MAXPOWER™ high-torque rotary motor and 8-foot cord mean that it can clip its way through anything you can grow. The Smooth Cut™ attachment guards mean that Dad can stride out of the bathroom feeling confident in his haircut. The Comfort Grip Pro Clipper is also a great buy at $49.99.

And the One My Dad Will Receive Is…
My decision? All three could be perfect for Dad; they’ve all got major pluses and are reasonably priced. I decided to go with the Lithium Ion Multigroom because I know my father will use that quick charge option constantly.

Wahl products are available at online retailers such as Amazon and select retailers nationwide, as well as at WahlHomeProducts.com. Which one will you get for your dad?
