World’s Most Expensive Hybrid – Bentley Mulsanne Hybrid Concept

The Bentley Mulsanne is not really a “looker”, but it is an ultra-luxurious car and for that reason I really want one; it’s kind of like the G-Wagon, you just want one because it’s a G-Wagon. It’s a car that demands respect and with the new Mulsanne Hybrid (concept), even people like David Suzuki will probably respect it.

Times are changing and even luxury carmakers have to develop fuel efficient/environmentally friendly cars; whether its government pressure or they’re just following the trend, I don’t know.

Bentley Mulsanne Hybrid concept

The Bentley Mulsanne Hybrid is a concept, for now at least, but if/when it goes into production, it will be the most expensive hybrid car money can buy (unless Rolls Royce brings a hybrid to the market first). According to Bentley, the hybrid system will go in their upcoming SUV first, which is set to be released in 2016 or 2017; the technology will make it onto other models after that.

The Bentley Hybrid system will be a plug-in system and will increase power by up to 25% and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 70% over its gasoline counterparts. The hybrid system will have an all-electric range of 31 miles (50 kilometers).

Bentley Mulsanne Hybrid interior

The Bentley Mulsanne Hybrid will be showcased at the Beijing Auto Show. The car doesn’t look much different from the gasoline version, except it comes with hybrid badges. The exterior hybrid badges are the most elegant hybrid badges I’ve ever seen. The car also features copper trim on the exterior and interior, which also looks very tasteful and appropriate.
