Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe Concept

Volkswagen may be a successful company with its global presence but I personally have never liked their line of vehicles and it’s not a company I would consider when making a purchase. The Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe concept however is one sexy beast and exact opposite of how I feel about Volkswagen. The CrossBlue Coupe features very bold styling and the overall design has sex appeal and is sure to turn heads.

The Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe is bigger than the Touareg measuring in at 4.8 meters in length, 2.01 meters in width, and 1.68 meter in height. Besides looking like a champ it also perform like one with a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 235 km/h (147 mph).

The six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission delivers a combined and impressive 409 horsepower to all four wheels of which 291hp is from the turbocharged V6 engine, while the electric motors at the front/rear axles deliver the remaining 118 horsepower. The CrossBlue Coupe’s nine kWh battery pack allows the SUV to travel 33 kilometers on strictly electric power up to speeds of 120 km/h (75 mph).

Volkswagen claims that this concept vehicle can achieve 34.1 mpg US without the use of electric motors while 79 mpg US can be achieved when the TwinDrive system is working together. The Volkswagen CrossBlue Coupe will seat five adults comfortably which are upholstered in Nappa leather.

The concept version gets a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch display. The backside of the front seat’s headrests also receive an iPad each. Although everything in the interior appears to be functional and well put together, unfortunately the production model would be “dumbed” down both on the outside and inside.

  1. You know, I thought hybrid was sort of an intermediate waste of time but this could be altered not too difficultly in the future to charge from an OLEV grid. I’d like to see a further modification of liquid hydrogen utilizing H7’s carboration system and an onboard hydrolyzer for indefinite range/ 0 emissions and good old whopping ICE power delivery.. I like the chopped roof SUV style too. Now THAT would be the way to go. Spare ,make it to safety, on all electric/ No hydrogen fueling station retooling. No stations needed any more period. Just the little task of ripping out all the roads and putting in the OLEV and keeping them smooth and operational. C’mon they could do it if they really tried and wanted to.
