Trashcan 2.0 – The Bruno Smartcan

Everything in the home seems to be getting smarter as the years go by. We have smart appliances, smart TV’s, vacuums, toilets (although expensive), and even smart light bulbs. And now, we have smart trashcans. Unfortunately, this trashcan won’t go around the home looking for trash to pickup but it does have a number of features that some will find to be useful.

For some odd reason, taking out the trash is a major pain in the ass for many guys out there. It’s a fairly simple task yet we don’t like doing it either because we are too lazy or very forgetful. The Bruno Smartcan won’t be able to do anything about your laziness but you’re in luck if you are the forgetful type. Through an app, you will be reminded to take the trash outside or you can even assign the task to another family member.

The Bruno Smartcan also features a trash bag storage pod which holds the custom fitted Bruno bags and you will also receive a reminder when the bags start to get low. If you don’t want the ‘Bruno bags’, you can also use standard 13 gallon kitchen trash bags although the prices are the same for the Bruno bags as the ones found in grocery stores.

The smart trash can also features a motion sensor which will allow you to open the lid without ever touching anything. But the best selling point for the Bruno Smartcan is the built in quiet vacuum system at the base of the trash can. When you do all of your sweeping, there is no need to bend down and collect everything in a dustpan. The vacuum system will suck it all up and dump it straight into the trash bag inside the container.

The Bruno Smartcan has already had a successful campaign on Kickstarter but you can still pre-order directly from the Bruno Smartcan website for $179 plus shipping. The trash cans are available in Urban Red, Slate Grey, Arctic White, Harbor Blue, and Stainless (+$50).

  1. I purchased mine in July 2015 with a launch date of November 2015. Here we are as of today December 13 2016 and I have received excuse after excuse about manufacturing issues in China as to why it has not shipped yet. Eric responds when he wants to the lady got tired of answering my emails every 4-6 months and the last email well was just plain ignored. The last response I did receive was this.

    Sir,
Launching a new product is always met with delays and we know that can be frustrating. There have been several delays in manufacturing but it looks like now they have set the official launch date as December. We thank you for your understanding and know you will love Bruno when it ships. If you no longer wish to wait however we will gladly refund your purchase.
    Thanks,
    Eric

I am not sure this think will ever get off the ground and I will be out the money for the can and extra bags. Although I was promised by Eric some great incentives for those of us who wait out the delays. Hell its been 17 months since my purchase why cave in now? Anyone else getting screwed on this thing too?
