A feasible electric car for the everyday consumer is still not quite here yet but the technology is always improving and I’m certain great things will be coming in the coming years. I would personally have no issues with owning the Nissan leaf but I’m looking for a bit more range and of course faster charge times. The Tesla Model S is attractive, have good range, but the price is still up there. For those with money, there are electric supercar options as well. Finnish manufacturer, Toroidion, has unveiled the 1MW Concept.
This purely electric sports car puts down an impressive 1,341 horsepower and made an appearance at the 2015 Top Marques show in Monaco. The vehicle is named after is power figure – 1000kW.
The Toroidion 1MW Concept makes use of four electric motors which powers each wheel. The front axle houses a pair of 200kW motors (268 horsepower) while the rear houses a pair of 300kW motors (402 horsepower).
The company also says that their all-new electric powertrain is able to offer the driver different levels of power depending on the type of driving one wants to do. The batteries used in this vehicle are also swappable should you happen to use it for racing purposes. Also a convenience for your own personal garage.
The 1MW Concept by Toroidion has been developed entire in-house in Finland, is hand-built, and fully legal for road use. More details will be available about the vehicle and its performance once the company completes more testing. Keep an eye on the Toroidion website.
