They have now become just as good, if not better, than DSLRs, and the fact they’re so much easier to transport really can make a world of difference. This camera takes excellent photos, but you do pay for the privilege. At $1,600, this camera is not cheap at all but has some really impressive specs. This camera is dust and moisture resistant, has 24MP, manual and autofocus, can shoot in RAW, only weighs .22 lbs, has nearly 9 hours of battery life, and can shoot from a 30 second shutter speed to 1/8000 second. It’s not cheap, but this camera was built to last and it is incredible lightweight.
Olympus OM-D E-M10 II
This camera comes at a much more reasonable and accessible price of under $400 body only. This camera has some awesome benefits that the Fuji doesn’t, such as a touchscreen, electronic viewfinder, movable and tiltable screen, and built-in WiFi. Its lenses are also compact and it has some awesome versatility that will really take your photography to the next notch. It’s a bit heavier, but still under a pound without its lens, and for something that takes such amazing photos, that’s still very impressive.
Sony Alpha A7R II
Sony really has some of the best mirrorless cameras on the market right now and you could easily write this entire article focusing purely on Sony mirrorless, but this one is truly excellent and exceeds most of its other similar competition. This is a full-frame camera with a shocking 42MP. It produces huge, high-quality images, has an excellent electronic viewfinder and is still small enough to fit in a small bag.
You do pay for such an amazing camera though, because it can cost more than $3,000. This is a shocking price for just a camera, but if you’re serious about photography and value lightweight over another full-frame DSLR that would take just as good photos, it is an incredible camera with some amazing features. This camera will last you a lifetime if you care for it properly and with some amazing photos, you might never even want to upgrade, so it would be an investment.
Choosing a mirrorless camera can be daunting, especially since you want to make sure you get one in your price range that offers you more than just a DSLR. Mirrorless cameras are quickly becoming the new normal so maybe it’s time you jump on the bandwagon.
