Just last week I wrote about a concept vehicle where a vintage BMW is modernized thanks to David Obendofer. Unfortunately, nothing will likely come of that since it’s a third-party concept and the car has nothing to do with the actual German company. But there is another vehicle which started off as a concept a couple of years ago and something has come of it. TMCARS first introduced the TM Concept30 “modernization package” for the BMW E30 as 3D renderings and it looks like an actual product has finally been produced for ordering.
The very first example of the TM Concept30 seen here looks pretty good with its shark nose profile and modern take on LED daytime running lights. It still has a BMW look to it but the front also reminds me of the current Chevy Camaro. While the front profile looks good in my opinion, I’m not a fan of the rear and wheel fitment. At some angles (like the rear), the taillights look like a cheap modification which could be fixed with a bit more design work and sourcing something more suited to the shape of the vehicle.
My complaint about the wheel fitment is an easy fix with a bigger wheel that will fill up the wheel well. The vehicle is said to be available in two body styles. The only one built so far is the “street” body style while the “race” model will feature a modified M3-like C-pillar and wider flared wheel wells to accommodate larger wheels, lowered suspension setup, and other mechanical modifications.
As far as we know, there are no modifications to the interior of the vehicle. The body kit itself is approximately $4,100 depending on the exchange rate. The 12 piece body kit includes front bumper, hood, front fenders, door panels, sills, rear bumper, rear fenders, trunk lid, and an optional roof spoiler. Customers have the option of keep their classic headlamps or they can pay an additional $1,100 to get the LED lights seen here in the pictures. You will also have to find your own wheels since that is not part of the package but that might work better for some people.
What do you guys think of this TM Concept30? I know there are a lot of people who absolutely love the E30 and would never change a thing on it.
