I’ve always been a big fan of a good looking classic pocket watch; I have yet to buy one because I haven’t really seen a good looking affordable pocket watch. I’m a fan of the classic look, and here’s a pocket watch that’s not classic looking and actually uses quite a bit of digital elements.
The Tissot Pocket Touch watch is part of Tissot’s T-Touch line, but in this application it is a pocket watch rather than a wristwatch. The Pocket Touch is aimed at outdoors enthusiasts and adventurers and therefore it comes with a few useful tools like thermometer, compass, barometer, and altimeter. Non-outdoorsy stuff like a second timezone, alarms, calendar, and backlight are also included.
The dial is covered with sapphire crystal that acts as a touchscreen. Simply pressing the edges of the glass at 12, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 o’clock positions activates the respective functions, data from which is displayed digitally in the window at the bottom of the dial, in LCD form.
The Tissot T-Touch Pocket Touch watches come in 48mm stainless steel cases, which are a bit on the smaller side for pocket watches, but would make it easier to carry in your pocket. The watches are offered in white case with white dials and black PVD coated case with black dials. The watches are water resistant to 100 meters and are powered by battery operated Swiss quartz movements; the T-Touch wristwatches are powered by solar energy.
The Tissot Pocket Touch watches are Swiss made and therefore carry a higher price than one would expect of such a device; the watches are priced at $950 US. Via: Tissot
