This article will give you advice on buying a brand new car.

Think about the model and size that you want

If you’re the kind of person who loves your cars, then you might already have an idea of the type that you want, or you might already have your heart set on a specific model. Do your homework and plan how much it will all cost you, and then make a list of the requirements that you need from it, and the options that you want. Be realistic about what you actually need when you set this out, and work out how many of them you can afford.

Look into some cheaper alternatives

As tempting as it can be to go for the car that you want the most, rather that will best suit your needs and your list of requirements. But buying a new car isn’t cheap so take the time to look into some of the cheaper alternatives to THE car that you want, to see if you have overlooked any other good options.

Think long term

When you’re out buying a car, don’t just get the one that looks most appealing on the day. They’re expensive so you probably want it to be as right for you in five years time as it is when you’re stood in the showroom. That two seater convertible might look perfect for you and your partner but if you’re planning on having kids anytime soon, then you might want to get something that will have lots of room for them too.

Think about how much it will cost you to run

As well as taking into account the price of the car itself, think about how much it’s going to cost you to run and how much you could end up paying for the insurance too.

Remember that you can walk away

If you’re not happy with the deal that you are being offered by the dealer, don’t forget that you can walk away and go somewhere else, or take some time to think about it.

  1. I appreciate you reminding me that it’s a good idea to do some homework before purchasing a car. As previously indicated, you should estimate the total cost and compile a list of the specifications you will need and any desired extras. My son is looking to purchase a new car, so I will surely share this with him and remind him of it. I’ll look for dealers who can assist him with it as well.
